  Alize Francheska Rozsnyai is a coloratura soprano “displaying profound imagination and control” (Philadelphia Inquirer), building a diverse and exciting performance career as a classical soprano with a "superb voice" (Harrogate News), and acclaimed interpreter of new music, supplying "deliciously diva performances" (I CARE IF YOU LISTEN).

 

  In her September 2021's performances of Alcina REVAMPED, Alize "impresses as Morgana. She attacks the melismatic demands of “Tornami a vagheggiar” ("Come Back to Woo Me") with practiced ease and accentuates the besotted naiveté of her character..." (Broad Street Review).

  Her recent engagements include the role of Zina in Nico Muhly's Dark Sisters with Opera Fayetteville, Soprano Soloist in Haydn's Lord Nelson Mass and Soprano Soloist in Mozart's Missa Solemnis under the baton of Gregory Geehern of the Princeton Festival, with PMSA, Nicole in Jason Cady's modulated synth-accompanied Candy Corn with Experiments in Opera at the Flea Theatre in NYC, the role of Zohara in the world premiere of Meira Warshauer's Elijah's Violin at the Presidio of San Francisco, under the baton of Jonathan Khuner and direction by Yefim Maizel,  George Crumb's Apparition, performed for George himself, at the Annenberg Center to celebrate the composer's 90th birthday, and several more world premieres. In May 2021, Alize made her debut with Beth Morrison Projects in their Next Gen concert, performing Maya Miro Johnson's "when icarus fell, was there a splash?" under the baton of Kamna Gupta. September 2021, she makes her role debut as Morgana in Alcina REVAMPED with Alter Ego Chamber Opera.

   Alize is co-founder, a soprano performer and librettist with the Philadelphia-based chamber opera company  Alter Ego Chamber Opera, whose mission is to tell new stories and old stories in new ways, supporting the creative voices of women, POC and other under represented artists in order to create brand new opera theatre "without the ego."  Click this link to find out more about Alize's work as a librettist.

ALTER EGO CHAMBER OPERA

  In 2019, Alize and three friends founded Alter Ego Chamber Opera with the mission of bringing brand new and reimagined works to audiences "without the ego" that generally surrounds classical music culture. For Alize personally, the desire to create this group stemmed from the realization that most of the people her age didn't like to go to the opera, or further, hadn't ever attended, and when asked why they would simply respond: "I just don't know enough about it." Alize firmly believes that art should be able to speak for itself, without an explanation or synopsis, and that operatic theatre needs to be performed in the language of its attendees for that reason -- in order to feel immediately connective and impactful. She also believes that we are (and become) the stories we tell ourselves, and that art and media culture should do its part to tell stories which reflect values that are positive, or inspire change within our culture and society for the better. For our future and the future of the operatic artform, that means the portrayal of strong female characters, stories that ask important questions and cause significant audience reflection. The purpose of art and live performances is to tell a story, connect people to one another and to culture, and the only way it can do that is if people attend in greater quantities, feeling welcomed and empowered to do so. Thus, AECO was born. Alize now serves as Artistic Director, soprano, and resident librettist for the Philadelphia-based ensemble which endeavors to "serve as a catalyst for change, bringing intimate, experimental opera theatre to the region."
