About the event
A preview performance of selections from a newly commissioned opera, Brandon’s Song, based on the final days of Brandon Teena, a transgender man whose murder was depicted in the 1998 film, Boys Don’t Cry. This work-in-progress is the 8th opera by artist-in-residence Misha Dutka.
This preview performance coincides with Transgender Day of Remembrance. All proceeds from this performance will be given to St. Dunstan's Episcopal Church, who hosted all of DVOC's rehearsals for the company's 2023 Summer Opera Festival.
Brandon's Song will feature mezzo-soprano Sam Rauch in the role of Brandon Teena, soprano Alize Francheska Rozsnyai as Teryn Gilchrist, Brandon's love-interest, and tenor Brenten Megee as his cousin Will, with pianist Austin Beaver accompanying.
